I work with mostly seniors who are unable to care for themselves in basic ways and are wheel chair bound. They are lonely and depressed. Reading the bible won't help for everybody and most are not believers.
I also want to add that not all of them are seniors. Some are in their 40s but they suffered a stroke so they were forced to live in the hospital. There's even one 20 year old girl who has been bedridden and unable to speak for most of her life but she's too old to be in a Children's Hospital.
